HORSHAM, Pa., December 5, 2018 – The Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals Soccer Club (Ukrainian Nationals) today announced that Temple University head soccer coach Brian Rowland has signed on to serve as the club’s director of coaching. Rowland will contribute to the Ukrainian Nationals organization by working with the club’s other coaches to develop and improve their skillsets so the coaches can then work with players to maximize their potential.

Rowland has an extensive track record as both a successful coach and player. Prior to his role as the Temple head coach he worked at the University of Maryland where he was named as the school’s first ever associate head soccer coach. While at Maryland, Rowland was recognized as one of the top assistant coaches in college soccer by College Soccer News in both 2016 and 2017. During his time at Maryland, he was also honored with the NCAA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year 2016 – NSCAA Award. “We are thrilled to have Brian join the Ukrainian Nationals family,” says Ukrainian Nationals Executive Director Steve Krysko. “I have no doubt that the coaching he can provide our coaches will prove to be a tremendous asset in helping us develop both male and female soccer players at all ages.”

The Ukrainian Nationals program primarily draws most of its athletes from the extended communities surrounding its Horsham location. They have created a niche in the market in terms of fielding teams that compete at the highest national club level, yet they still encouraging their players to participate with their respective high school teams. Regarded as one of the very best soccer development programs throughout the region and around the country, the club’s primary focus is on soccer development at the youth level. As such, the Ukrainian Nationals offer both male and female teams in a variety of age brackets and have won several state championships as well as two Region 1 Championships over the past two seasons.

“I’ve known about the Ukrainian Nationals Soccer program for quite some time,” says Rowland. “I’ve coached former players from the program and coached against others and have always respected the way the club develops talent. It will be a fun and rewarding challenge to work with the club’s coaches to help the Ukrainian Nationals further fulfill their mission.”
